If you are worried about domain poaching, then usually the best place to start is your own domain registrar or another well-known reliable vendor, rather than responding to this unsolicited approach.

Dear Manager:
This email is from China domain name registration center, which mainly deal with the domain name registration and dispute internationally in China and Asia.
On April 21st 2011. We received HAITONG company's application, they want to register " dynamoo" as its Internet keyword and CN/Asia domain names. It is china and Asia domain names. But after checking we find this domain name conflict with your company, in order to deal with this matter better, so we send you email, and want to confirm whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China?
I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
Best Regards,
John

This is a total scam. People beware they are at it again.
Hi. Received an email this morning with exactly the same wording - obviously still trying the same trick. Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicion that this is indeed a scam.
26th August,
We are Musicians and receaved the same thing.
We can only agree, that this is total scam.
And certainly after reading a Forum called "VikingSword" got asked to...
... Us and that forum were told a company called "Hansen LTD" wanted that Name.
I got this email this evening. Thanks for the confirmation of my suspicion.
And they are still active...
Thanks for the blog!
Dear Manager,
(If you are not the person who is in charge of this, please forward this to your CEO,Thanks)
This email is from China domain name registration center, which mainly deal with the domain name registration in China. We received an application from Hanson Ltd on September 17, 2012. They want to register " flierefluiterraalte " as their internet keyword and China/Asia (CN/ASIA) domain names. But after checking it, we find this name conflicts with your company. In order to deal with this matter better, so we send you email and confirm whether this company is your distributor or business partner in China or not?

Thank you for confirming my suspicions! I have received exactly the same email from this 'John' and a second one with forms asking if I would like to buy the domain! Plus someone called Lin Dong (hansonltd@yahoo.cn) saying we do hope you won't object to us becoming the legal owner of this name in China and Asia - further scaremongering.
Hi Dynamoo,
Actually responded to John with: open to licensing proposals in China. Guess I'm a schmuck or a bit greedy??? Anyway, surprised the comments I see are 4+ months old. I'm in NYC, maybe they hit different geographic s and work their way round the world. Happy to have found your site/blog though. Would be happy to be on your mailing list.
Thanks,
Glenn
After several messages from "John" similar to the above, I just got the following:
Dear Manager,
Based on your company having no relationship with them, we have suggested they should choose another name to avoid this conflict but they insist on this name as CN/Asia domain names (.asia and .cn and .com.cn and .net.cn and .org.cn) and internet keyword on the internet. In our opinion, maybe they do the similar business as your company and register it to promote his company.
According to the domain name registration principle: The domain names and internet keyword which applied based on the international principle are opened to companies as well as individuals. Any companies or individuals have rights to register any domain name and internet keyword which are unregistered. Because your company haven't registered this name as CN/ASIA domains and internet keyword on the internet, anyone can obtain them by registration. However, in order to avoid this conflict, the trademark or original name owner has priority to make this registration in our audit period. If your company is the original owner of this name and want to register these CN/ASIA domain names (.asia and .cn and .com.cn and .net.cn and .org.cn) and internet keyword to prevent anybody from using them, please inform us. We can send an application form and the price list to you and help you register these within dispute period.
Kind regards
John

Sure sounds like they're trying to sell something!
I just received the same message a few days ago, along with a separate message from Lin Dong (hansonltd@yahoo.cn) saying we do hope you won't object to us becoming the legal owner of this name in China and Asia. The kicker here is as an seo expert, the registering of the internet key word is not something that is supported in the US, if it were Google would be out of business since the use of ad words would be finished. Great blog, thanks for the post.
hi i resived this email today and thenks for help
